Insulation Continued

We took a couple more pics of the now fully insulated home! This first one was taken behind the fireplace (from the toilet room (yes, it's an extra room!)

Insulation!

This past Friday and Saturday were very busy! On Friday, the outdoor walls of the home were all insulated, as well as part of the ceiling. Jer and I went to Lowes to pick up 9 bags of insulation for the indoor walls, and on Saturday, he worked with our friend Rudy for about 7 hours installing it all (plus almost another 2 bags!) My parents had visited as well, and my dad volunteered to help with the project! These pictures help show a bit of the before-and-after!

Siding, Roof, & Stucco

Another 24 hours has brought new changes to our home...the roof is completely finished, the siding is just about done (except for the top of the door frame) and the house is completely covered in insulation as it gets ready for stucco...

Pre-Wire Surround Sound

Last night our friend Aaron came by the home to help put up pre-wire for a surround sound system... we don't have the speakers yet, but at least we know that one day, when we want them, the wires are there! I took this picture of the home while the sun was setting... it looks so pretty! Below, Jacob, Aaron's son, is playing on the mound of dirt next to the home :)

Roof & Siding!

Wow :) The roof and siding is half done!

We had a chance to meet the men who were putting the siding up, and it felt great to tell them THANK YOU!!

Doors & Electrical!

Today we got our appraisal back... this first picture here shows the picture that the appraiser took before figuring out the value of our property... - never realized that a concrete slab was worth the price of a house! :)

We were excited to see that our outside doors were now put in (they will eventually be painted black) and the electrical is all up!...including the can lights in the kitchen! The window above the door is in the correct spot now too (instead of on the floor of the 4th bedroom/den! We see the sheet rock is in the house too...but before any of that goes up, we have a walk through on Thursday to double check things.

We're glad to see that some birds have decided to make their home in our house now! And they even have a bathtub to swim in if they'd like - now officially moved from our garage to the hall bathroom!

San Luis Obisbo Spring Break Vacation!

This past week was our Spring break, so we took a journey away from Porterville and our home and enjoyed spending time with our friends Rebekah and Aaron on the central CA coast!

We stayed at the most adorable bed & breakfast ever - European style! It was located in the heart of downtown SLO, so we were able to easily walk to all of the cute shops that the town has to offer. The food and wine was delicious, and the rooms were quaint and bright. The only negative part was the ceiling fan in our room...it made so much noise when turned on that we couldn't sleep...and since there was no air conditioning, we found the 'bed' part of the hotel a little frustrating!

We visited Hearst Castle, and although we'd been before, we took a different tour this time - the garden & wine cellar. We loved it, and Rebekah and I were quite entertained at how well our cameras could take pictures of all the pretty flowers...see below! :)

Perhaps one of our favorite parts of the trip was going to a yummy seafood restaurant in Pismo Beach - about 10 minutes from the hotel. We literally had a bucket of seafood tossed on our table (we could choose 3 different types - we had wild shrimp, lobster and crab), and we were able to eat like animals :) Another favorite part of the trip for me and Rebekah was watching our two husbands eat a chocolate covered worm... ewwwwwww!

It's been a wonderful break, and now we're excited to finish this school year! (We can hardly believe it - 6 weeks left...)

Hot & Cold Water & Roof Tiles!

Today we drove by the home to bring cookies and soda over to the construction workers. When we arrived, we saw men on our roof! I liked watching how they transported the ceramic tiles from the truck to the roof! We took a look around and saw that the lines for hot and cold water were now put up, and the bathtub was no longer in our garage!

Trimming, Windows, Fireplace & Air Conditioning!

We went on a vacation for the last few days over to San Luis Obisbo (central CA coast) and came back today, Wednesday, to see some amazing new changes to the house! (Pics of San Luis are coming!)

They've got the trimming painted, they've got windows in, the 4th bedroom is all fixed (door is in the right place, and the closet is now the correct size), the fireplace is in, the air conditioning system seems all set up, and the hall bathroom bathtub is here...well, it's sitting in the middle of our garage! :)

1. The house!
2. Jeremiah stands in the front home - we see what the next week will bring to our home by looking at the house across the street!
3. View of the master bedroom with windows! (and our fabulous dirt pile!)
4. Grid window for bedroom #2
5. Circle window - to go above the front door
6. The sliding glass door that takes you to the outside patio
7. A closer shot of the master bedroom windows (and the dirt pile)
8. View of the kitchen window and the sliding glass doors
9. View of the kitchen - the high window is no longer a rectangle!
10. The air conditioning system
11. Close-up of the fireplace
12. Living room with the fireplace
13. The 4th bedroom door is now correct :) - it's on the corner instead of the side wall - will give us much more space for furniture!
14. The bathtub - I've never seen one inside a box before!
