For my very first Mother's Day, I thought it would be nice to have a picnic! My parents joined us in Bakersfield, and after visiting Costco to pick up some delicious fresh pineapple, we found a nice tree with lots of shade in a a gorgeous park by a river. We spent several hours there enjoying the beautiful day, and of course, enjoying our Ellie!

Looks like a happy picture doesn't it? But the camera has fooled the audience - Ellie is screaming her head off! About 1 minute later, she was fast asleep in Nana Deb's arms!
And then wide awake again!
Who needs all the fancy toys? Soda bottles seem to work just fine!
We realized we haven't had a single family portrait taken of the three of us since Ellie got out of the hospital - and so Mother's Day seemed fitting enough for one... or two!
