8-3 - 8-5 - Standing from Sitting!

Ellie surprised us yesterday (August 4, 2012) - she grabbed onto some plastic storage bins that we just bought to store her clothes in - and she pulled herself up into a standing position right before our eyes! (pictured below). The videos we took of this moment came after she'd been doing this move over and over again - and she was pretty tired......so by the time she pulled herself up, she kept falling right back down again - but still - so glad we caught the moment on the very day she did it for her very first time!
Since then, we've been letting her stand up all by herself on our ottoman (it's too tall for her to pull herself up on right away - but she (just today - August 5) - started standing and holding herself up on it all by herself - and she even managed a couple of side steps... :)
How could I resist these photos?- they didn't know I was standing in our kitchen taking pictures of this moment happening in our backyard...

But then I was spotted... but with a smile! Two smiles! (maybe 3 - I think Sandy was smiling too)

Ellie now adores water.... and what's so funny is that she prefers our water bottles over her cute baby sippy cups that I just bought her... go figure! Actually, side note about the sippy cup - last Thursday when I dropped her off at the babysitter's house, I'd forgotten to bring a nipple for Ellie's milk bottle. I had remembered her sippy cup, however, so Lori poured the milk into the sippy cup and Ellie drank the whole thing! ("guzzled it" was how the moment was described to me when I picked her up!)

Today, while I piled her newborn and 3 month clothes into her new favorite toy, the plastic storage bins, I placed the boppy behind Ellie to see if she could play by herself sitting up... and she did! She reached for everything around her, but her favorite was the paper bag that her clothes had previously been in. Her second favorite was reaching up into the storage bin and taking all the clothes out of it (that I had just put in !)
My baby girl is now big enough to be carried facing outward - she likes it sooooooooooooooooooooo much better... as you can plainly see.... Two hours like this - and not a single whine!
