8-6 - 8-7 - First (& hopefully only!) Ear Infection

After her evening nap on Sunday, Ellie woke up sounding hoarse. I thought that this was strange for a baby, and I was a bit worried about her vocal chords (I've battled with hoarseness a lot, and this is no fun as a singer). The next day, Ellie was in great spirits, but she felt very warm and her nose seemed a little stuffy. So, we decided to take her to the doctor... glad we did - he took a look into her right ear and said it was very very red - and that she has her first (and hopefully only!) ear infection. The bacteria from the ear dripped down into her mouth area making her sound hoarse.

Thank goodness she has been happier than ever these past few days - because it is really no fun at all giving her the antibiotic!

Below, she is playing with the storage bin - we're making music! You'd never know that her ear is hurting her!
Ellie and I have started a night time routine as of late... after she gets her pajamas on , she is rubbed down with yummy lavender lotion, she is read a story, and then she has quiet playtime where she gets to play by herself with some toys until she gets that tired look in her eyes - then she looks at me, reaches her arms up, I pick her up, and she falls asleep. No more whining and screaming - pretty amazing. Most of the time I put on some Baby Mozart, but last night she enjoyed her glowworm and its music instead.... she had no idea I was even in the room - didn't notice as I came and went - this tummy time and sitting up thing has opened up a wonderful new world to her!
